Tiny homes introduced by Clayton Homes at Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway shareholders meeting

The growing trend of tiny homes with luxury amenities was featured by Clayton Homes new Designer Series Tiny Homes and shown during Warren Buffett’s annual Berkshire Hathaway shareholders meeting this past weekend.

“The tiny home movement is driven by people who want to downsize their living space with an efficient, stylish home design,” Jim Greer said a release. “By listening to our customers, we started to see a growing demand for minimalism, high-quality materials and increased functionality.”

Clayton, a Berkshire Hathaway company and one of the leading builders of manufactured, modular and site built homes, featured architect Jeffrey Dungan’s Low Country floorplan from the Designer Series Tiny Homes collection in Omaha, Neb.

The Low Country, a Clayton tiny home design , was featured. The small modular homes are built indoors at a Clayton home building facility in Addison, Ala. specifically fitted to build Clayton Tiny Homes. The facility is ISO 14001 registered for green building practices, and the small homes are built to the International Residential Code (IRC).

This small modular home is designed for permanent living and exemplifies the growing trend toward smarter living spaces with luxury amenities and clever storage solutions.

“We’ve been providing Clayton homes for over 60 years with unique floorplans and different sizes, so it made sense for Clayton to be the builder that brings tiny homes to a national scale,” CEO Kevin Clayton said in a release. “Developing this series has allowed us to discover another innovative product to offer to the public.”

The 464-sq. foot Low Country offers 270 degrees of window views while providing plentiful natural light throughout the interior. There are vaulted ceilings throughout the home to make the home feel larger while the master bedroom accommodates a queen-size bed and full-height closet.

Upscale amenities include brand-name appliances, oak hardwood floors and exterior details such as poplar bark siding, a cedar shake and metal roof, French doors and a covered front porch.

Clayton has hired Jim Greer to lead its tiny home initiative as National Tiny Homes Brand Manager.

The Designer Series exemplifies Clayton’s commitment to housing innovation, rethinking functionality and exploring a range of housing solutions in America.

“At Clayton, one of our most important guiding principles is to ‘try a lot of stuff and keep what works’,”  Clayton said in the release.

“New ventures such as these homes allow us to become more innovative while answering homeowner needs and trends. The collection is an example of the innovation and solution-exploration that we always want to bring to the housing market.”

Clayton will be slowly expanding the available reach of its Clayton Tiny Homes Designer Series outward from select states in the coming months. Those interested in finding out more can sign up for the email newsletter at DesignerSeriesTinyHomes.com or follow the Clayton Tiny Homes Facebook page.
